张氏太极拳每一动作都是在身体保持中正的前提下进行运动的,只有保持不偏不倚,虚领顶劲,方可利于气、血的畅通,意识的集中,神的统领。因此,在演练张氏太极拳时,要求在中正状态下进行运动或者在运动中追求中正。
